Intersection crash injures two

A three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Road 26 and Avenue 17 sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident happened about 5 p.m. Monday in moderate traffic.

CHP Sgt. Michael Donnelly said it appeared one of the vehicles, a Honda traveling west on Avenue 17, may have failed to stop at the light, striking a southbound BMW in the intersection.

“The Honda Element was westbound on Avenue 17, when the 53-year-old woman driver struck a southbound 1993 BMW in the driver’s door,” Donnelly said. “She sustained moderate injuries. The impact, estimated to be about 45 to 50 mph, spun both vehicles into a white pickup, which was sitting at the stoplight. The Honda was also flipped over on to its side.” ...
