Boy Scouts, public officials partner in 87th Civics Day
Local Boy Scouts of America troops got a behind the scenes look at how different branches of government are run in Madera during the 87th annual Civics Day on Wednesday.
Nearly 40 scouts were partnered with public officials ranging from county supervisors to firefighters to the mayor to learn about what they do on a daily basis.
Some of the 12- and 13- year-old boys learned how taxes are collected in the county and pretended to be supervisors in a mock Madera County Board of Supervisors meeting.
