Howard 4-H is off to a great start this year. The monthly business meeting was held on Oct. 1. Our members each brought items for the Animal Shelter. It was a great donation of dog food, cat food, cat litter and newspapers.

Leslie Labrucherie of the Madera Republican Women Group was our guest speaker. She addressed our group on the importance of the upcoming election. She gave out real Madera County ballots and most of the club voted.

Matthew Ylarregui presented the club budget and members approved the budget for the year. Since the projects are starting up, the group members reported on what their group has or will do over the next month. Katie and Ryan Ylarregui reported on the upcoming Halloween skating party. The National 4-H Week Display was at the WestAmerica bank on Sept. 30 through Oct. 8. Mckayla Batty and Katelan Galleano did a great job putting it together. Keenan Sagouspe, Katie Ylarregui, and Matthew Ylarregui were chosen to chair the Christmas star program for the Norman Gould School.

The club welcomed 24 new members during the member initiation ceremony. Madera County Achievement night was held on Oct. 10, and outstanding 4-H members and record book winners were recognized.
