House fire displaces family

A fire that started in the rear of a home in the 14000 block of Farallon Road, near Club Drive Wednesday morning destroyed about a third of the dwelling home and displaced a family of three according, to City of Madera Battalion Fire Chief Rhonda Myers.

Homeowner Greg Barnes was called to scene by neighbors, and pulled up just as firefighters were dousing the smoldering rafters and debris.

Myers said the cause of the fire was undetermined and under investigation at this time, and no injuries were reported.

“No one was home at the time of the fire,” Myers said. “A neighbor called 9-1-1 just before 10 a.m., when they saw black smoke coming from the house. It appears to have started in a rear bedroom and spread from there. We have investigators looking in to it now.” ...
