Horseshoe pitchers install court at rec center

Members of the Big Valley Horseshoe League have completed construction of a regulation horseshoe court at the Pan-American Community Center.

The courts at 700 E. Sherwood Ave. can be used by the seniors who meet there weekdays as well as teens from the center’s youth program.

This is the latest in a series of horseshoe courts rebuilt or installed by the Horseshoe League throughout the city and county. According to League president Harlen Rippetoe, league members have installed two courts at Lions Town and Country Park, two at the Madera Elks Lodge and six courts at the American Legion. In addition, Rippetoe has aided an Eagle Scout in helping construction of a court at Yosemite Lakes Park.

The Horseshoe League members donated all materials and labor to the month-long construction of the courts and hope to complete more in the future for the people of Madera...
