Holy Family Table, the Madera Catholic charity that feeds the hungry daily from its kitchen at Griffin Hall, North C and 5th streets, reports a big increase in the use of its services.

The charity, an arm of St. Joachim church, served 8,410 free meals in July. The same month in 2011, 5,377 free meals were served. August numbers weren’t yet available.

The charity extended thanks to “our tireless volunteers, especially those who work the kitchen in the hottest of summer weather."

Among donors being thanked were The Bridge Store, Costco in Fresno, the Fagundes family, Save Mart on Country Club Drive, Sealed Air employees, St. Joachim School, Willey Farms and Walmart...
