The Madera County Historical Society’s annual Ice Cream Social will serve more than sweet frozen food this year. It also will crown the yet-to-be chosen 2012 Old Timer’s Queen and King.
The board of directors decided to combine the coronation with the social this year to make it easier for families of royalty to attend the event, which will be during a weekend. In the past, the coronation was usually done on the Friday evening before the Old Timer’s Day parade.
The Ice Cream Social is set for Aug. 5 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on the west lawn of the Madera County Museum. Cost is $3 per person and free for children 5 or younger. Shades of Grey will perform and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
Hot dogs, lemonade, ice tea, desserts and ice cream sundaes will be served...
