Historic flag presented to Millview Elementary

Millview students were introduced to an American flag that once flew in Afghanistan — and now will remain in their school’s cafeteria — at a ceremony Thursday morning.

With hundreds of children in attendance, many waving small American flags, Millview Elementary School principal Rosalinda Galvez introduced Henry Arredondo, Commander of the Herbert E. Macon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1981 of Madera.

Arredondo brought forth the flag bearers of the post. In attendance were new school superintendent Ed Gonzalez, chairman of the Madera County Board of Supervisors Max Rodriguez and supervisor Rick Farinelli.

This particular Stars and Stripes was itself a veteran of the war in Afghanistan...
