While Madera and Madera South high schools strive to make their commencement ceremonies memorable, the respective schools’ senior classes are working hard behind the scenes to make the rest of those graduation nights safe and remarkable.

Volunteers wanted

Although the prizes have been purchased, the DJ has been reserved and the activities scheduled, both schools are looking for volunteer help.

“We can always use more people,” Madera South senior class co-advisor Chris Christiansen said. “The thing that I’m concerned about is we have seven game tables and we need to run those all night long. Hopefully, the kids will understand, the more money they earn, the more chance they have to buy items. We have people to run those tables, but I want to have two shifts to give those people a break throughout the night. I need about 14 people and we have eight teachers committed and a few other parents. We need help with security and walking around.”

To volunteer, contact co-advisor Laura Garibay at 455-3642 or Christiansen at 906-2508...
