It’s a simple formula that brings customers to the Valley Pistachio Country Store: keep the products local and the service friendly.

Inside a remodeled home nestled in front of Cru Wine Company off of State Route 99 at Avenue 20 and Road 21, the store’s shelves and even the walls are lined with a variety of local products.

From the popular roasted pistachios — they’re in the name, after all — to a selection of sauces and dressings, it’s hard to find something here that doesn’t have a local slant.

“This is definitely a Madera store,” said general manager Ronda Smith. “Practically everything we sell is locally grown or produced in some way.” ...
