The Madera Parks and Community Services Department is offering a new program that teaches balance, creative expression and motor skills to children ages 3 to 5.
The Movers and Shakers program helps children develop “muscle memory” through music and repetitive movements. Children will also be encouraged to interpret and create movements of their own. Songs will include themes including the different seasons, counting, feelings, a child’s uniqueness, diversity and social acceptance.
A parent or guardian must be present and are encouraged to join in. The program is free and sponsored by the HEAL (Healthy Eating Active Living) initiative.
Classes will be held Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 21 through May 16 at the John W. Wells Youth Center, 701 E. 5th St. Register your child Monday through Friday from 8-5 p.m. at the Youth Center until March 16.
