Held to answer: suspects in shooting of 16-year-old in court

A Madera Superior Court judge has agreed that two 15-year-olds charged with the murder of a 16-year-old boy during a gang shooting last month were properly charged as adults.

In a preliminary hearing before Judge David Minier, Jose Vega and Nicolas Salazar were held to answer on charges filed by District Attorney Michael Keitz for the murder of Jesus Espinoza, Keitz said Tuesday.

Espinoza was shot in the stomach four times on April 18 outside the Carl’s Jr. restaurant on Madera Avenue.
