Hearing on secret DA report is postponed

A hearing on the Rowley Report has been postponed until Feb. 1. The secret document contains the results of an investigation conducted by Fresno attorney Daniel Rowley into the operation of Madera County District Attorney Michael Keitz’s office.

The hearing in Keitz vs County of Madera had been set for Dec. 19, to determine whether the Madera County Board of Supervisors could release the report to The Madera Tribune.

Originally, Judge Dale Blea had been scheduled to hear the case, but he recused (withdrew) himself, according to a clerk in the office of the Civil Court Division of the Superior Court. It is now scheduled to be heard by Judge Michael Jurkovich, who was recently named to the Madera County Superior Court by Gov. Jerry Brown.

The postponement came at the request of attorney Matthew Fletcher of the law firm of McCormick, Barstow, LLP, which now represents the county in Keitz vs Madera County...
