Health fair to address mental issues

Local agencies and mental health advocates have partnered with a Bakersfield-based healthcare consulting firm to raise awareness about mental health issues and tell people where to get help in Madera.

The Central California Mental Health Fair planned for Oct. 5 will be the first of its kind in town and will include numerous speakers, who will address a variety of mental health issues, many pertaining specifically to youth. There will also be awards given for individuals who have improved mental health in the county and the announcing of winners for art and writing contests. Entertainment, informational booths, food and prizes will be given free of charge, organizers said.

The idea of hosting this event in Madera came from Noel Cabezzas, the chief executive officer of Viability Health, Healthcare Consultants, LLC, a consulting firm for hospitals, clinics, surgical centers and other similar healthcare facilities in the state.
