As the reigning Div. V Valley Champions, the Liberty Hawks football team played for the first time in public Friday and head coach Mike Nolte came away satisfied.

For the first time at the annual intrasquad Green/Gold scrimmage, the varsity team was separated into two teams -- Green and White -- while unveiling its brand new white uniform.

“I was happy with the way it went,” Nolte said. “We have enough guys to make two full teams and it brought out some good competition, which is good.”

The White team was led by quarterback Zach Richey, as well as the running back duo of Richie Brandt and Kendall Malone. Abraham Thorne also showed he was ready to step up into a featured role with a touchdown and two receptions that led to another...
