The Madera County Grand Jurors’ Association, made up of those who have served on Grand Juries, tries to increase public awareness of the Grand Jury’s role.
California’s Constitution gives “substantial oversight powers” to county grand juries, according to information from the association.
“The Grand Jury’s purpose is to guard the public interest by keeping watch over numerous government agencies, cities and districts throughout the county as the only independent watchdog investigative body in the county.”
