A weekly gathering of gospel singers and guests will gather tonight inside the First Assembly of God church to spread religious love and prayer.
“The purpose of our group, Friday Night Gospel Sing, is to get a group of singers together with a band, sing old gospel songs, and pray for those who are sick and in need,” said Ted Beck, one of the group’s organizers. “We just spread the gospel through song.”
Beck said the group, a separate entity from First Assembly of God, meets every Friday at 6 p.m. inside the church, located at 22444 Ave. 18 1/2.
Performers consist of approximately 20 singers and a full band with piano, guitars, drums, and even a mandolin to play southern gospel classics such as “I’ll Fly Away,” a hymn published in 1932...
