MADERA RANCHOS — Golf carts are a fine method of transportation if you are on a golf course or on the way to the clubhouse, but a Madera Ranchos man learned they’re not great on busy streets.

Motorists driving down Avenue 12 on Saturday made multiple calls to 911 after narrowly avoiding the man, who was reportedly driving a golf cart on the wrong side of the road into traffic and on and off the shoulders.

The man was stopped by the California Highway Patrol and given a field sobriety test for alcohol, but was not found over the legal limit.
