It isn’t often you see businesses give to their local community the way Madera Glass & Body Shop says it will this Saturday, as the company gets ready to hold its sixth-annual Gold Cup Car Show entirely free of charge.
With classic cars on display, barbecue dinners, live music, and a raffle that will give away high-value items such as a 60-inch plasma television, it wouldn’t seem out-of-line for the company to charge an admission fee.
Not for Madera Glass & Body, said general manager Alex Hernandez, even as putting on the show at the shop’s location near Central Avenue and Gateway Drive from 4 to 10 p.m. costs it more than $6,000.
“We’re not in it for the money or anything like that,” Hernandez said. “We’re in it for families and letting them have a good time. We just want to give back to the community and help strengthen the core of our local families so we can get back to the mentality that family comes first.” ...
