A Madera nonprofit is inviting women and girls to visit the Fossil Discovery Center on Saturday and will pay the entry fee for the first 50 to show up.
This is the second year the Madera chapter of the American Association of University Women is encouraging women to visit the center, which is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Once again, we are calling girls along with mothers, daughters, grandmothers and aunts,” said Linda Leach, president of the Madera chapter of AAUW.
Organizers say the Girls Day is designed to spur an interest in science and to inspire girls to consider new possibilities in science-related careers. Professional women and scientists will be available to talk with visitors about an array of topics...
