Mike Giersch was named Madera Rotary Club’s Rotarian of the Month, and his mother, Phyllis Giersch, also a Rotarian, came forward to hand her son the award at the club meeting Tuesday.
Mike is a civil engineer and president of Giersch and Associates, a longtime family-owned Madera engineering firm. He is Madera Rotary past president, having served during 2010-2011, leading the club to receive the Outstanding Large Club award for Rotary District 5220.
“Mike has been involved in directing, organizing, building, and helping in every activity our club does,” said club president Jim Pierce. “Our upcoming Halloween Ball fundraiser on Oct. 27 and our St. Patrick’s Day dinner in March are major successes because of his help in these activities that benefit our community.”
Pierce went on to thank him for expanding the club’s family fellowship activities which include a bus trip to a Giants baseball game, a canoe trip on the San Joaquin River, and family picnics at the Hillcrest Tree Farm where he is the Steam Train engineer...
