Gala helps arts council raise money

The Madera County arts community honored its supporters and raised money to continue its educational efforts with a pirate-themed dinner that drew about 100 people.

The Gala for the Arts, organized by the Madera County Arts Council, included a Saturday night dinner, a nohost bar, silent and live auctions, raffles and recognitions in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall.

Madera South Theatre Company students dressed up as pirates and spoke in character to entertain guests.
