Futsal League concludes with pro soccer players

More than 50 participants and spectators attended the final night of the first Futsal session.

In addition, three members of the Fresno Fuego pro soccer team were on hand to encourage and teach youth some soccer skills. Adding humor to the occasion was Scorcher, the Fuego team mascot.

The John W. Wells Youth Center was filled with Futsal enthusiasts as the Madera Parks and Community Services Department wrapped up their first league session of the increasingly popular indoor sport for youth. The Wednesday evening event featured a Futsal game and afterward, food and refreshments were served and the participating youths received certificates.

Futsal is played indoors between two teams of five players each, including the goalkeeper. It is played with a ball smaller and softer than a regulation soccer ball, and has less bounce. It is a great way to improve ball-handling skills, and improve techniques, creativity and teamwork...
