A furniture giving program needs furnishing of its own as its collection runs low but the need in the community remains.
The furniture ministry at Madera United Methodist Church was started by Rev. Shinya Goto about three years ago and has provided between 100 to 200 pieces of furniture to low-income and homeless people, said director Joyce Martinez.
The ministry works with Love in the Name of Christ Inc. to provide furniture to qualifying individuals. Love Inc. refers people to resources provided by churches, ministries and agencies in Madera.
