MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a Fresno man in the 1985 murder of a woman whose body was found in a supermarket garbage bin in Santa Clara County.
Mountain View police say 53-year-old Daniel Garcia was charged with murder Friday after investigators used DNA evidence to link the convicted offender to the killing of 21-year-old Saba Girmai.
Officials say Garcia is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Palo Alto in Santa Clara County Superior Court.
The cold-case arrest comes 28 years after someone found Girmai’s body in the garbage bin behind the Bailey Park Plaza shopping center in Mountain View.
