Four Madera County graduates receive MCCW-MCCA scholarships

Cody McDougald, Brennan Cornell, Samuel Mercado and Sara Sinks have each received a $1,000 scholarship from the Cattle Women and Cattlemen organizations to help them with expenses for their first year of college.

Cody McDougald is planning to attend Linn Benton or California State University, Fresno, where he will major in Animal Science, specializing in animal nutrition and rangeland management, and focusing on the ever-increasing regulations placed on the ranching industry. Cody is the son of Jim and Valerie McDougald and graduated from Minarets High School.

Brennan Cornell graduated from Liberty High School and plans to attend Norwich University, majoring in Ag Business. Norwich is a private military college for men at Northfield, Vermont. It is the second oldest military institution next to West Point. Brennan is the son of Tom and Heidi Cornell. His goal is to serve his country and make a career in agriculture.

Samuel Mercado is planning to register at the University of California, Davis, where he will major in Computer Engineering and utilize it in the ag industry. Samuel’s parents are Jose Cervantes and Rosario Celasco. He resides on Avenue 23 1/2 in Chowchilla and graduated from Chowchilla High School...
