Traffic delayed for about an hour

Four cars piled up on the City of Madera’s outskirts Wednesday morning in a wreck that sent each vehicle’s driver to the hospital and delayed traffic for about an hour.

Emergency workers from several agencies responded to the wreck at the intersection of Avenue 13 and Golden State Blvd. near Madera Community Hospital shortly after 11 a.m., Madera Police Department Cpl. Mark Trukki said.

Upon arrival, first responders found the four vehicles with varying levels of damage, including: a white Chevrolet 1500 pickup with its front end completely crunched in; a white Mercedes-Benz sedan with smashed front and sides; a white Nissan Titan truck with moderate body damage; and a maroon Ford minivan with minor scratches on its front driver’s side.

“That truck and the Benz have major front-end damage,” Trukki said, pointing to the Chevrolet pickup. “I’m not a body mechanic but they’re probably going to have a hard time salvaging that one at least.” ...
