One of the first Yeomen in “Star Trek” is set to speak about how God changed her life before the congregation at Bethel Baptist Church, 1501 N. D St., on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Best known for playing the role of Yeoman Janice Rand in “Star Trek: The Original Series,” actress Grace Lee Whitney went on to work in theater, films, television and music. She also wrote an autobiography which includes her struggle to overcome alcohol and marijuana addictions.

“I’m not sure how long she’ll be able to stay but she’ll be the only speaker. Everybody is welcomed,” said Cona Cutler, whose husband Rev. Steve Cutler is hosting the event.
