With cars lining up for more than a mile, the Madera Food Bank held its Thanksgiving giveaway this weekend, handing out 400 boxes of canned food, chickens, and drinks to those looking to bring the humble joy of a holiday meal to their families.
Thirty volunteers, including 11 PG&E workers and their family members, gave three hours of their Saturday morning to serve a line of cars that stretched all the way from the food bank’s location at 225 S. Pine St. down Maple and Grove streets across Olive Avenue.
Working as a makeshift assembly line, the volunteers would stop one car inside the Food Bank’s warehouse, load it up with supplies, and send it on its way with smiles and wishes of a happy Thanksgiving.
The work was appreciated by volunteers and citizens alike...
