First Concert in the Park at Chowchilla

The Madera County Arts Council Summer Concerts in the Park series will change its venue for the first time from Madera’s Lions Town and Country Park to a performance at Chowchilla’s Veteran’s Memorial Park, 145 Robertson Boulevard.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday with the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Military Band, known as the Sounds of Freedom Band.

The band is a group of volunteer musicians who combine their talents for a tribute to the U.S., active military personnel and our nation’s veterans. The band has been the recipient of three Congressional Citations for its patriotism and outstanding community service.

The VFW/American Legion Color Guard will open the concert be raising the U.S. flag in a ceremonial “posting of the colors.” Fairmead Community and Friends will be serving a “Southwestern Picnic” menu featuring fried chicken, toasted corn on the cob and tostadas...
