Fire guts home: family of three in Madera Acres displaced

MADERA ACRES — A home in the 26000 block of Avenue 18A near Vine Road was destroyed and a family of three displaced by a fast-moving fire that started in the garage, according to investigators.

The cause of the fire discovered about 2 p.m. Saturday is thought to be electrical. No injuries were reported.

City of Madera Fire Battalion Chief Rhonda Myers said the fire had likely been burning inside the garage of the 1,200-square-foot home for some time, and the house was at least 50 percent involved upon arrival.

The fire quickly consumed the side of the house and burst through the roof shortly after the arrival of firefighters...
