Folkloric and salsa dancing and Hispanic cultural food will highlight the eleventh annual Fiesta in the Park on Sunday in Courthouse Park.

The free event, sponsored by Latinas Unidas and hosted by Madera Parks and Community Services, is a celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. From noon to 4 p.m. attendees can enjoy food — including a best-tasting salsa contest — crafts, games, and a family fun area provided and staffed by the parks department.

Mariachi Tepeyac and two folkloric dance groups, along with salsa dancers, singers, and DJ Groove N’ Effect will entertain the crowd.

The Fiesta serves to educate the community about the rich roots and traditions of Hispanic culture and provide scholarships to young Latinas entering college...
