About 700 people gathered at Courthouse Park this week for the first Madera County Farmers Market of the season.
The Thursday debut featured Valley growers selling fruits and vegetables, live music performances, vendors, informational booths, activity stations for children and vouchers for those on several public assistance programs.
The farmers market is set to run nine weeks this summer — from this week until Aug. 21. From 4 to 6:30 p.m. every Thursday except July 3, residents can shop in the outdoor market.
