Cause of blaze remains under investigation

A fast-moving fire destroyed an older 1,200-square-foot ranch house Tuesday afternoon in the 17000 block of Island Drive, west of State Route 145.

Two families were displaced by the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation, according to Madera County Fire Capt. Les Russell.

“The house was more than 50 percent involved on our arrival. There was a heavy, black plume from the contents,” Russell said...
