Months of cleaning and fundraising are set to culminate with a parade and festival to celebrate Fairmead’s 100th year as a town.
Fairmead Community and Friends is sponsoring the centennial celebration, which begins with the parade at 10 a.m. Saturday on Fairmead Boulevard. A festival will follow at Fairmead Elementary School, 19421 Avenue 22 3/4.
The Madera County Public Health Department will provide free health screenings and there will also be performances, food vendors, informational booths, arts and crafts booths and games.
Attendees will be able to take photos with old-time costumes and buy the newly published book, “Fairmead: A Century of Change” by Michael Eissinger. The festival is set to end at 5 p.m...
