Experts to teach organic farming at conference

Organic farming experts will gather at the San Joaquin Valley Organic Farming Conference next week to teach food safety, organic certification, plant disease management and other topics.

The conference, hosted by the University of California Cooperative Extension and Fresno State Organic Program, will be held April 4 at the California State University’s Business Center at 5241 North Maple Ave.

Organic farmers or those interested in becoming organic farmers are encouraged to attend the event to learn about industry advancements and certification guidelines, organizers said.

Speakers will include Fresno State’s farm director Ganesan Srinivasan, California Certified Organic Farmers regional service representative Cynthia Ortegon, UCCE Fresno County representatives Richard Molinar and Tom Turini, and Fresno State instructors Mint Pasakdee and Anil Shrestha...
