Organizers of an annual art exhibit hope to draw more people to see it this year. The 19th annual Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts competition and exhibit is set to be displayed at Circle Gallery, 1653 N. Schnoor Ave. Suite 113, for six weeks this fall.

Presented by the Madera County Arts Council, with sponsorship from businesses and individual supporters, the exhibit aims to promote a broader interest in and understanding of agriculture as an industry while showcasing and promoting professional artists. Artists from throughout the state submit paintings, drawings, sculptures and fiber arts, organizers said.

Categories include dairy, livestock and poultry; farm machinery and structures; fruits and nuts; irrigation, row and field crops; vegetables and vines; and Pomegranate Festival, which was added last year to recognize the first ever Heart of Pomegranate County Celebration and Festival. This year, a new category and medium has been added. Celebrate Agriculture: The Human Factor will be the only category in which photography may be submitted.

To be eligible for the competition, participants must be at least 18 years old and live in California...
