Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday announced the appointment of Michael J. Jurkovich to the Madera County Superior Court, which has had a vacancy since the retirement of the late Judge Eric C. Wyatt, who died in April at age 45 of brain cancer.
Jurkovich was a Madera police officer from 1981 to 1990. Prior to that, he had been a correctional officer with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department from 1978 to 1981.
He earned a Juris Doctorate from the San Joaquin College of Law and a bachelor of arts from California State University, Fresno.
