Event to benefit Crime Stoppers

Several getaway packages are being auctioned this year at the Crime Stoppers’ annual June Jam event, which raises money to fund rewards for tipsters.

“Crime Stoppers is going for the wow factor this year because money earned is slated for anonymous callers courageous enough to phone in tips to help law enforcement fight crime,” said Madera County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart.

More than 1,000 rewards are given each year to Crime Stoppers callers, and the local organization hosts fundraisers to pay for those tips.

The June 2 event, themed “A Pirate’s Life For Me,” promises dinner, dancing, and a five-star live and silent auction featuring trips across the country along with several smaller value items, Stuart said...
