The local chapter of the American Association of University Women strives to give Madera girls the opportunity to excel in higher education.

Whether through mentoring, leadership opportunities or scholarships, the women have helped girls grow both personally and professionally.

The AAUW Madera chapter provides scholarships for high school girls and sponsors seventh grade girls each year to attend an educational summer camp at California State University, Fresno.

Founded in 1881 by 17 alumnae of eight colleges, the group envisioned a network that would help open doors of higher education to women. More than 175,000 women nationwide are using their educations in service to the society...
