Elks welcome military trio

The Madera Elks Lodge welcomed home three local servicemen with a recent spaghetti dinner and dance that drew 200 and raised $2,800 for the club’s veterans fund.

Honored were brothers Christian and Joshua Jandro, and Kenny Munoz. The Danny Milsap Band performed.

U.S. Army Spc. Christian Jandro, 23, returned from his tour of duty in Afghanistan on Dec. 17 — his first time home in nearly four years. His mother JoAnna had only seen him once since he began his tour, according to Elks Exalted Ruler Eddie Block. He had previously been deployed to Kuwait.

His brother, Joshua, 21, had enlisted in the U.S. Air Force earlier in 2013 and was initially processed in San Jose in April. He will leave for Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas, on April 13 for basic training in security forces. Both joined the Elks in a “special” club initiation before the meal...
