The Madera Elks Golf Tournament first teed-off in 1976 with a pledge to benefit handicapped children and youth activities. It will continue for those worthy causes Saturday at Madera Municipal Golf Course at Avenue 17 and Road 23.

This year’s competition begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start.

Silva Ford is offering a free 2-year lease on a brand new Ford Fiesta hatchback if a player gets a hole-in-one on the par 3 on the number 3 hole on the course. Other prizes can be won for a hole-in-one on the course’s other par 3s.

The entry fee is $80 and includes tee prizes, golf and a steak dinner served after the sporting event at the Elks Lodge at 112 W. Sixth Street. The Elks’ goal for tourney participation is 140 players, so golfers are encouraged to get their foursomes together. Entry forms are available at the golf course. Checks for the entry fee should be made payable to Madera Elks Youth Fund...
