The Madera Elks Lodge celebrated their one-year anniversary of fund-raising bingo nights by handing out checks to charitable organizations. The funds were presented to representatives of Coats for Kids, the Holy Family Table, the Thanksgiving Basket Project, the Children’s Christmas Program and the James Monroe School Family Holiday Dinner.

The checks were presented by Elks Exalted Ruler Eddie Block before the start of bingo Tuesday night.

According to Bingo Night organizer Harold Johnson, the lodge presents checks every quarter to deserving organizations, community projects and programs. “This first year we were very pleased to have given a total of $6000 to many different community betterment and youth programs,” said Johnson.

Bingo Night is held the first and third Tuesday of each month at the lodge,112 W. Sixth Street, beginning at 6:30 p.m. A light dinner, snacks and refreshments are available before the games begin.
