Elks donate dictionaries to local schools

Members of the Madera Elks Lodge are busy this week distributing more than 2,000 dictionaries to third graders in local schools.

This is the fifth year of the program that gives dictionaries to students in Madera, Chowchilla and Madera Ranchos.

Wednesday morning 120 third graders at Nishimoto Elementary gathered in the cafeteria to receive their dictionaries from the Elks.

Chairman John Bliss and several more lodge members handed each child a dictionary...
