The dynamic duo: two Maderans have given their all to Relay For Life

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in Madera has seen hundreds of individuals dedicate time and effort to make the annual community-wide event a success.

Cheryl Farnesi and Bonnie Tysland take the commitment even further. From serving as team captains to committee chairs and event chairpersons, they have provided nearly two decades of service to Relay For Life.

The 24-hour event sees teams raise money for the American Cancer Society by collecting donations and holding fundraisers. Members take turns walking around the the park for the duration of the event.

Farnesi started with Relay when Janet Manos, then Luminaria Ceremony chair, asked her to come out and help for a couple hours during the first event held at Lions Town & Country Park in 2002...
