The trial of Maderan Dustin Gran on charges he bludgeoned a young Madera woman to death has been postponed, according to Madera County District Attorney Michael Keitz.
Gran’s trial, in Stanislaus County, had been scheduled to start Monday. The trial was moved out of Madera County because of what the defense called too much pre-trial publicity.
Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Marie Silveira on Wednesday cancelled the Sept. 24 trial date and ordered the parties to return to court Oct. 30, when a new date will be set.
Gran is charged with first-degree murder in the 2008 death of Krista-Rae Pike.
