Sheriff ’s report: Burglaries and murders up from 2010 figures
The Madera County Sheriff’s Department continued to do more with less last year — taking more calls for service and conducting more investigations than in the previous year despite losing 18 positions.
Sheriff’s deputies also helped Madera narcotics and gang enforcement teams seize nearly $85 million worth of drugs, weapons, and other assets last year, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s State of the Department report released this month.
“In spite of the continued reduction in resources, we have endeavored to provide the same level of service as provided in the past,” said Sheriff John Anderson in his report. “Notwithstanding the general economic downturn affecting the county, state and nation, the Madera County Sheriff’s Department had a very favorable year in most areas of our operation.”
