Driver injured in rollover

A car that ran a stop sign at the intersection of Avenue 12 and Road 24 crashed into the side of a semi truck Friday afternoon, causing the loaded semi to jacknife and roll into a canal.

The truck, pulling double trailers, was moving at 55 to 60 mph at the time of the collision, according to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Michael Donnelly.

Distracted driving is being investigated as a factor in the crash, officers said.

The female driver of the car, a blue Ford Mustang, was slightly injured in the crash and was taken to Madera Community Hospital. Officers had not released her name, citing the need to contact family...
