Madera police have arrested two adults and two juveniles on felony weapons charges in connection with a drive-by shooting on Madera Avenue. Additional charges may be pending.
The shots may have started flying about 3 p.m. Thursday in the area of Walnut Street, and continued near Almond Avenue and on to Madera Avenue in heavy traffic, according to calls to police.
Interim Madera Police Cmdr. Dino Lawson said it wasn’t known if the drive-by shooting was related to the Vasquez homicide the day before but the individuals arrested were all well known to police.
“It is suspicious, but it could also be coincidental. Calls came in about a green car and a black truck shooting at each other on Madera Avenue about 3 p.m. A student leaving Pioneer Tech also was in the area when the shots were fired, and both calls could be accurate. Witnesses saw the incident and followed the Honda. We were able to find them at the Arco Station near Avenue 12 and SR 99. There were four individuals in the car. We also found a loaded shot gun, spent (shell) casings in the vehicle… and have them all in custody,” Lawson said...
