Rotary Park’s Dog Park was the place to be Saturday if you were a dog or one’s owner. It hosted two different shows for canines.

The first, a morning event, featured lighthearted contests such as the cutest dog, ugliest dog and the dog that looked most like its owner.

Jennylynn Reali of “M” dogs in Merced presented dog agility demonstrations. Joe Gaddis also volunteered his time to demonstrate Dog Protection. In addition, animal trainer Steve Dornin of Los Angeles gave a class on causal obedience.

Guest judges for the contests were Mark Etheridge of the Parks Department, Cynthia Ortegon of Friends of the Dog Park and young Jesse Rodriguez. Michelle Lawrence’s canine Bucky was chosen the ugliest dog. Sasha Fierce, owned by Santiago and Martha Lopez, won the cutest dog contest and Carrie Garcia and her pet Glaze walked away with first place in the look-alike contest...
